After completing a Level 2 Counselling course while playing at York Knights, Marcus Stock combined his playing career with a role supporting victims of human trafficking.

 

 

He enjoyed the work so much he decided to study for a Masters degree in psychology before leaving York to join London Broncos, where he is now playing in Super League and working on a project that sets out to reduce knife crime in Milton Keynes.

 

In this entertaining and enlightening chat with our Transition Manager Francis Stephenson, Marcus talks about his thoughts on why a dual-career approach works so well for rugby players and shares a few tips for younger players weighing up their options for what comes next.

 

 

 

If you and young and are able to,  go and study, whether that be for an undergraduate degree or an online vocational course. Having other interests away from the game helps you grow as a person.
