To help players make a successful transition out of the sport, Rugby League Cares organises events which bring together retiring or recently retired stars of the game for a special challenge.
In 2022, the challenge was the Warriors Walk which saw ex-players including Ryan Atkins, Matty Blaymire, Stuart Howarth, Matt Cook, Paul Wood, Danny Washbrook and Paul Clough tackle the Old Man of Coniston and a kayaking challenge along the full length of Coniston Water. The hike wasn't competitive but once the boys got into their boats...
I could have done with something like this 10 years ago, I'd advise any player nearing retirement to jump all over the Warriors Challenge if they get the chance. You are a long time retired so an event like this should be taken seriously. And it was brilliant fun!
