The Manchester-based law firm, which has roots in the city dating back to 1773, offer progressive legal advice and exceptional service to commercial and not-for-profit organisations and private clients across the UK.
The Rugby League Hall of Fame Dinner sponsored by Slater Heelis takes place at The Edge, Wigan, on Tuesday October 22 when six of the greatest men and women Rugby League players, and an Ashes-winning team, will receive the highest accolade the sport can bestow.
RL Cares Chief Executive Chris Rostron said: “On behalf of the wider sport, I would like to thank Slater Heelis for supporting this very special event which celebrates the talent and achievements of the best of the very best.
“When looking for a principal partner for the dinner, it was important for us that any sponsor had to possess the standing, prestige and high regard that reflects the august nature of the Hall of Fame.
“As one of the UK’s most respected law firms, and a company which shares many of the values that are important to both RL Cares and the wider Rugby League community, Slater Heelis are a perfect fit for this blue-chip event.”
Rachel Fletcher, Managing Partner at Slater Heelis, said: “It’s a huge honour for us to be supporting this event and we can’t wait for the evening which we know will be full of inspiration and passion for sport.
“Slater Heelis has a long-standing relationship with Rugby League Cares which we are incredibly proud of, and pledging our commitment to the Hall of Fame Dinner really cements our affiliation to a wonderful charity committed to changing the lives of players at all levels of the sport.”
As an Official Partner of RL Cares, Slater Heelis deliver progressive legal advice and exceptional service to Rugby League players and their families at every level of the sport, including Super League, Championship, League 1, Women’s Super League, the England Performance Unit and the community game.
The Rugby League Hall of Fame Dinner sponsored by Slater Heelis is being hosted by RL Cares in association with Ellis Rugby and the Rugby Football League and will see six players – Jane Banks, Michelle Land, Jamie Peacock MBE, Paul Sculthorpe MBE, Alan Prescott and James Lomas – join the 35 existing members of the sport’s most exclusive club.
And in a historic move, the 1996 Great Britain Women’s touring team to Australia will become the first team to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
The links between Slater Heelis and the Hall of Fame run deep: in the mid-19th century, Stephen Heelis, one of the company’s founders, was twice elected Mayor of Salford, where 2024 Hall of Fame inductee James Lomas would become the biggest Rugby League star for over a decade following the turn of the century.
