Shaun Wane discusses his passion for coaching and how he moulded his Wigan Warriors team in his own image - tough, relentless and underpinned with trust in each other...

The England Rugby League head coach views high performance as a combination of attention to detail, both on and off the field, and being relentless in delivering the standards he sets for his team.

He emphasizes the importance of being clear about what is expected and taking responsibility for player improvement, providing honest feedback and working with individuals until they reach their goals.

He learned these lessons and became a "father figure" to his players through his own experiences growing up, where he had only bad memories and left home at the age of 15.

I am still on good speaking terms with many players who I've released over the years and that's because I have always been really open with them.
