Stevie Ward has been battling persistent post-concussion symptoms since suffering two head injuries early in 2020. In this Sky Sports documentary, the former Leeds captain explores the effects of living with concussion...
After suffering my second concussion in a fortnight playing for Leeds, the weeks and months that followed were the hardest of my life. My world was turned upside down: migraines, dizziness, nausea, anxiety and depression all left me feeling so low I didn't even know if I wanted to be here.
The video is about Stevie Ward, former Leeds Rhinos player, who has retired due to a concussion injury. He discusses his experience living with the symptoms of concussion, which include migraines, dizziness, nausea, light sensitivity, noise sensitivity, depression, and anxiety. He also talks about how the injury has affected his day-to-day life and how it has strained his relationships.
Stevie's partner also speaks about how the injury has affected Stevie and how it has been difficult for them to understand and cope with the changes in Stevie's behavior and emotional state. The video highlights the impact of concussions on athletes and the need for more awareness and understanding of the injury.
Stevie goes into more detail about his brain health and retirement on his Mantality podcast.
