Former Super League player Lee Jewitt talks about what it meant for him to be mentally tough as a young elite athlete.

Lee's experience provides a good introduction and insight into how mental toughness can impact a young person's life in and out of sport, and how this can be the foundation for success later on.

Mental toughness when I was younger meant embracing the challenges and not letting doubt defeat me

What is mental toughness?

Mental toughness is having the natural or developed psychological edge that enables you to cope better than your opponents with the many demands (competition, training, lifestyle) that sport places on a performer; be more consistent and better than your opponents in remaining determined, focused, confident, and in control under pressure."
